buffer, which is stored in the calling program. Thus, *(dest->outbuffer) will always equal *outbuffer. We need to compare *outbuffer with dest->buffer instead to determine if the pointer is being reused.

the destination manager and is being reused from a previous compression operation, then we need to get the buffer size from the previous operation, since the calling program doesn't know the actual buffer size.

crufty SIZEOF() macro. It was not being used consistently anyhow, so it would not have been possible to build prior releases of libjpeg-turbo using the broken compilers for which that macro was designed.

JMETHOD and JPP macros. libjpeg-turbo has never supported compilers that don't handle prototypes. Doing so requires ansi2knr, which isn't even supported in the IJG code anymore.

retains the use of tabs for historical reasons. They were annoying in the libjpeg code primarily because they were not consistently used and because they were used to format as well as indent the code. In the case of TurboJPEG, tabs are used just to indent the code, so even if the editor assumes a different tab width, the code will still be readable.)

instead of the clunky pixel size + flags combination to define the pixel size and component order. tjCompress2() and tjTransform() can also now grow the JPEG buffer as needed, which can allow programs to save memory by not pre-allocating the "worst-case" buffer size calculated by TJBUFSIZE(). Converted API documentation to Doxygen. There is no legacy code remaining, so the refactored version of the library has been re-licensed under a BSD-style license.
