'filp' naming convention is bogus; sure, it's "file pointer", but we generally don't do that kind of Hungarian notation. NFS is a bit of a wart here - it doesn't have file at the point where FILE_CREATED used to be set, so we need to propagate it there (for now). IMA is another one (here and everywhere)... Note that this needs do_dentry_open() to leave old bits in ->f_mode alone - we want it to preserve FMODE_CREATED if it had been already set (no other bit can be there). If it wants to leave actual opening to the + caller (e.g. if the file turned out to be a symlink, device, or just + something filesystem won't do atomic open for), it may signal this by + returning finish_no_open(file, dentry). This method is only called if + the last component is negative or needs lookup. Cached positive dentries + are still handled by f_op->open(). If the file was created, + FMODE_CREATED flag should be set in file->f_mode. In case of O_EXCL + the method must only succeed if the file didn't exist and hence FMODE_CREATED + shall always be set on success. tmpfile: called in the end of O_TMPFILE open(). Optional, equivalent to atomically creating, opening and unlinking a file in given directory. -- cgit v1.2.3 From 00a07c1591a3fb3d71f7083361eab4a2444938a3 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Al Viro Date: Mon, 9 Jul 2018 19:30:20 -0400 Subject: switch atomic_open() and lookup_open() to returning 0 in all success cases caller can tell "opened" from "open it yourself" by looking at ->f_mode.
